On November 23rd, Changzhou will join and open the 24-hour suicide intervention hotline

It is learned on October 12ththat the first 24-hour suicide intervention hotline in Jiangsu Province, the “Hope Line”, will be open on November 23rd. Changzhou Association for Mental Hygiene has confirmed to join it. The opening of this hotline will fill the blank of our province in the area of 24-hour psychological assistance.
It is said that the “Hope Line” is the first 24-hour Chinese life education and crisis intervention hotline in the world. The headquarter was set up in Shanghai on December 3rd, 2012. After that, the hotline was successively set up in Beijing,GuangzhouandShandong. The purpose is to provide free psychological crisis intervention consulting service toChina’s suicide community and their relatives.

According the arrangement, there will be a three-day professional system training of psychological crisis intervention from November 21stto November 23rd. Now, Changzhou Association for Mental Hygiene is recruiting telephone operators and publicists for “Hope Line”. “Operator volunteers shall have the following qualification such as level II psychological consultant, or senior student or postgraduate student majoring in psychology, or mentor of school. As for publicists, there is no specific requirement. Before starting working, we will provide special training of life education”, said Mr. Kong, the person in charge of the hotline in Jiangsu Province.
