Changzhou invites public comments on new traffic signal sequence
Font:〖L M S

On March 21st, the Traffic Police Detachment of Changzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau released a proposal aimed at adjusting the city's traffic signal sequence. The proposed change involves allowing left-turn signals to operate after the through green light, instead of before, as it is currently done in most of Changzhou's intersections. The proposal is currently seeking public comments via the internet.

Changzhou's current traffic signal system has been retained due to the city's large number of T-junctions, narrow roads, and fewer channels across railways and the Grand Canal. However, with the city's rapid economic and social development in recent years, the traffic network has continued to improve, with main and secondary roads being widened, T-intersections decreasing to 17.3 percent, and vehicles turning left at main junctions dropping to 25.9 percent. In contrast, vehicles going straight through account for 60 percent, and five-lane cross sections now make up 80 percent of the city's roads.

The proposal seeks to adapt to the changing traffic conditions and improve the efficiency of the city's traffic network. Public comments will be collected from March 21st to March 25th.
