As a key program of Changzhou, the Phase III project of Riverside Sewage Treatment Plant has begun to run, planning to treat 100,000 tons of sewage for the urban areas every day. By then, the city’s urban sewage treatment capacity will reach 515,000 tons, and the quality of treated water for discharging will achieve the National Level A standard or above. A large number of new technologies have been developed and applied in the planning and construction of the Phase III project, of which 35 are the new technologies promoted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan,” and 6 are the innovative technologies independently researched and developed by Changzhou Drainage Management Department. Considered as a unique project among the counterparts in China that has significant effects in energy-, land- and capital- saving, this program has won the Award of Science & Technology Demonstration Project issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
