The recently released survey of household income and living conditions by the Changzhou Investigation Team of the National Bureau of Statistics shows that in the first half of 2019, the per capita disposable income for Changzhou’s rural residents was 15,568 yuan, an increase of 8.5% over the same period of last year, while the rural per capita living expenditure was 8,842.2 yuan, an increase of 8.1% year-on-year.
Wage and salary income is still the largest factor that contributes to disposable income. In the first half of 2019, the per capita wage and salary income for Changzhou’s rural residents was 9,695.6 yuan, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year, which contributed 60.55% to the growth of rural per capita disposable income.
The eight categories of consumption have also seen increases. It is reported that in the first half of 2019, the per capita expenditure on education, cultural and entertainment for Changzhou’s rural residents was 805.6 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%. Expenditures on housing and transportation and communication also saw substantial growth, up 9.5% and 9.6% respectively. Clothing, health care and food and tobacco expenditures rose 6.4%, 8.5% and 6.6% respectively. Expenditure on other supplies and services, daily necessities and services showed steady growth, increasing by 4.8% and 7.9% respectively.
