In 2014, Changzhou focused on space optimization and quickened the progress of city-industry integration based on the ‘one vertical and three horizontal’ layout and the strategy of ‘one center and four areas’.
In the progress of improving the city’s ecological environment, Changzhou has formed its own characteristics of diverse plants, abundant green spaces, large scales, and Jiangnan style (Jiangnan is a geographic area in China referring to lands immediately to the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River). In addition, the government regards air quality as an important livelihood project. The annual mean PM 2.5 concentrations dropped by 7% compared to 2013.
